I have photographed all the parades since 1996 but this year my request for media accreditation was rejected (I must have upset someone) and this presented me with a major problem. Without proper access it is almost impossible to photograph or video the actual St. Patrick's Day parade because people keep getting in the way. The only option open to me was to arrive three hours before the parade began and to photograph the behind-the-scene preparations. This proved to be rather interesting as I got meet some of the performers. This year I did not use a DSLR camera. I used a Sony NEX-5 and a Sony NEX-VG10 Camcorder. What is really nice about this combination is that the lenses are interchangeable. www.streetsofdublin.com
