For the launch of the Handycam NEX-VG10 camcorder -- the world's first consumer HD camcorder with an interchangeable lens system -- Sony Australia partnered with renowned Australian videographer, Pieter de Vries for the sponsorship of the 'Sony presents Kino Kabaret Filmmaking Festival 2010'. To showcase some of the unique features and capabilities of the NEX-VG10, Pieter created his own five minute short film, which followed the Kino Kabaret theme of 'Game On' and was aired at the festival. Comment from Pieter de Vries: The form factor of stills cameras capable of recording large-sensor HD video won't stay trapped in the traditional stills camera body for much longer, and this model from Sony is a good example it how it should be. It's has been optimised for video shooting with a surprising stills capability - not the other way around. The Handycam NEX-VG10 has just released into the popular dSLR market space and this five minute showreel was commissioned by Sony to screen at the Kino Sydney Film Festival.
